These are 7" tall so they won't work as well in shallow pots, they need to be buried as you can see in my picture. Easy to use. I will use these this summer when I go camping to keep my outside potted plants watered. Bottles with long necks will work. I used plastic skinny syrup bottles and glass wine bottles. I used a wine bottle in the spike and it held it nicely. The water takes about a week for the bottle to be empty which is great for when you are away.NOTE: these are so fragile!!! Two came with hairline cracks so they busted easily. Another one I guess I out some slight pressure on when interested into predug hole and it shattered. However the others seem to be intact and I have had no issues. Just unfortunate how many broke out of the box.Luckily I didn't need Tham all anyways but still.
